The candle that burns

Do you have a fond memory of a teacher? Someone who made you look forward to a class or an hour of fun, or to the stories and experiences they shared, blending wit and life lessons all in one?

Isn’t it a great feeling of having someone who brought light and cheer, a glowing piece that fit right into the puzzle of life. Some fill us with knowledge and courage, some don’t need words to teach traits of kindness and confidence, some share clever tips on how to remember important stuff, and then there are those whose way of teaching is all that is needed to make the lessons stay with us, sometimes throughout life.
There are some who bring odd facts and recommend interesting books or media for a fun way of learning, and there are some whose pats-on-our-backs are something we wait to receive or earn. Then there are some who are really strict in class or during sessions, always busy and enforcing discipline; but once the terms are done or during out-of-class hours, at school celebrations or college functions, we get to see their fun sides, their cheerfulness brings a splash of sunshine, so unexpected and yet so beautiful.

To all the lovely people who strive in making the lessons easy to understand, keeping stuff simple and seeing that classes are fun, interactive, less boring, not mundane, something to look forward to, and who invoke the feeling of learning something new everyday – thank you for kindling curiosity in us and helping us grow.

The world would certainly be a beautiful place if every person supported each other, taught each other something helpful, something good, something kind, even if it’s just a word of encouragement. To all those who make this possible – thank you. Thank you to all whose words have helped someone stay determined, whose voices have made quitters rethink. We are blessed if we have had such people in our lives, and more so if we have been this to others.

Now, when schooling, education, tutoring is more of a money making business, kudos to those who use their skills and infrastructure to transform young minds into open and creative outlets-who then go ahead and change more lives and bring joy and pride. As for the establishments who advertise new forms of education – where they mention that thinking is given preference to teaching, who stress that they teach in the way the students understand best, I sincerely hope that they actually do what they say.

A special mention to all the people who longed for good teachers, affordable education. To all those who taught themselves to achieve things all on their own. To those who know the importance of a guiding light, of a role model and are determined to provide this for others. Who have followed their dream of becoming teachers or facilitators, to show the way to young minds, share words of encouragement and make them see how proud they are of their student’s achievements – may your light shine bright always.

Thank you.
