She was asked to write a poem on ‘Hope’,
So she checked around with everyone,
On what could be written for this feeling;
To get her assignment done.
Her brother said that hope is,
When you are wishing for something to go your way.
And that he could show her how it was done-
While he was hoping that she would go away.
Her dad was more patient,
As he said that it was the key.
For it could take longer than what one hoped for,
Or to get things aligned to how they were meant to be.
Her mom repeated the same –
That it was the candle that one should always keep aglow.
For when all the other lights seem to weaken one by one,
The flame of hope will get the doused lot glowing once more.
The girl wrote about all that she was told,
And added what she had heard her grandparents say often-
“All you need is hope and strength-
Hope that it will get better,
And strength to hold on ’til then.”
