Before you dip into your quiver

Time heals, is what we are taught,
But those words that stab, don’t just get lost.
They make these scars that stay.
Why won’t they go away?

Why doesn’t time work on them?
Why do they echo back again?

And again, when the thoughts, go back to where it all began,
The hatred, the curses, and the time reverses.
Who knew that words, those tiny beads,
Can come together as spears,
Pierce; and then stay, as long as memory aids.

Who knew that words have so much power;
But isn’t it the same with the words that bring us closer?
The words that heal,
The words that love,
They are untouched too, on the sands of time.

When a soul is troubled, or all alone,
The thoughts go back to bring them home,
The words that touched your heart,
Or the ones that broke it apart.

So if you are all set, ready to give the other a piece of your mind,
With all that’s in you, raring to go.
Just take a moment- in picking the words you want to say.
Because once they are out there, they are bound to stay,
And those words that stab, don’t just go away.
They make these scars that stay.
They make these scars that stay.
