Friendship that lasts a lifetime

The days we spent together, the moments in which laughter reigned,
Those years, when we think of now, were the brightest of all.
Though each day looked the same, our bonds were being strengthened,
And we were learning to rise up, after every fall.

Through troubles, great and small,
When I find myself lonely or discouraged,
I see that I feel better, whenever I recall-
The days we spent together, the moments in which laughter reigned.

Though we didn’t know then, the thread that weaved
Our days through joyous summer and fun-filled fall,
Were golden threads that gleamed and shimmered,
Those years, when we think of now, were the brightest of all.

When we were young and our fears looked tall,
I remember how we were there for each other, and encouraged
With teases and taunts, that made our worries seem small.
Though each day looked the same, our bonds were being strengthened.

We went making our own paths, setting on roads untraveled,
Our dreams pushed us forward, even if we had to crawl-
Past the barriers of failure, or when we were taught what was predestined,
And we were learning to rise up, after every fall.

As I bring them to memory, those days as I recall,
The moments of freedom, the laughter that sounded,
In all those walks of life, can still enthrall.
They are still fresh in mind, and treasured,
The days we spent together.
