Step into my world

Tucked in a corner, snug and pleased,
Anticipating where this small ticket will lead-
To all the places to see, the wonders to feel,
And all the people I’m waiting to meet.

Finding a book that you want to read, the excitement of reading faster, wanting to finish it and also the sadness that you feel when coming to the end of a great book, these are just a few of the exhilarating experiences reading can bring.
A page-turner or a book that touches you, can take you to distant worlds, wonderful places, into someone else’s life, get you to witness epic battles, all with just a collection of words, a bunch of pages.

The feeling of not having enough time in the day to finish the book; staying awake as long as possible, trying to finish one chapter, only to get hooked to the ending and wanting to read the next one; trying to sneak in a few pages worth of reading whenever possible, but ending up reading more pages/chapters than planned- it’s lovely what a great book can do.

Then there are those beautiful books that are re-read a number of times. They may be childhood classics having dog-ears or a certain favourite that kept your thoughts busy, while reading it and much more later as well, bringing excerpts or characters from the book to your mind, as you went along your own storyline.
Some books are seen in a different perspective each time they are read. Your age/experience makes you see the words differently, either relating to them or noticing things that you overlooked.

May the delight of a book’s company spark in us always, and may we ignite the same love in younger lives whenever possible.

There are many little ways to enlarge your child’s world. Love of books is the best of all.
